Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, the incumbent in Michigan's race for governor, debated challenger Tudor Dixon at 7 p.m. Thursday in Grand Rapids.

Democratic candidate Whitmer is still leading Republican candidate Dixon, but the race is tightening, according to a recent Free Press poll ahead of the Nov. 8 general election.

The debate was hosted by WOOD-TV at the station's studios. It was about an hour long. Political reporter Rick Albin moderated.
